     China Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra      Conductor - Adrian Kelly

Born in 1974 in Lancashire, England and raised in Perth, Western Australia, Adrian began playing trumpet at the age of six.  His natural ability and dedication to the instrument saw him progress rapidly, and he is now one of the most sought after studio and touring musicians in Asia and Australia.

Over the past two decades, he has recorded and performed with some of the best in music; including Jacky Cheung, Joey Yung, and Twins in the Asian music scene, and Ray Charles, Shirley Bassey, and Patrizio Buanne in the West.  In 2011/12 he performed as a member of Jacky Cheung’s 1/2 Century World Tour, featuring in 146 concerts, in 77 cities across 11 countries to a total audience of over 3 million.

He has shared the stage with many jazz luminaries including Dave Weckl, The Manhattan Transfer, and Frank Foster. He boast numerous recording credits and has performed in over thirty touring musical theatre productions.

Adrian also has an impressive career to date as a composer, and has written music for the Sydney Theatre Company, the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, and Jacky Cheung, among others.  His music was featured on The Artists of the New York Trumpet Company album, Intercontinental Drift, and in 2007 he won the WA Music Industry Song of the Year Award for his composition "Curious Yellow".

2012 sees the release of Adrian’s debut CD as leader, Chinese Whispers 細語, featuring music from and inspired by China.
